Monday morning (17th) we take a last look back at Cliveden House ...
turn into the stream and continue downstream passing more boats moored at Cliveden than I've seen for a very long time
Keeping right for Boulters Lock, Maidenhead ...
where the old fella in the cut is watching for fires to extinguish
Waiting for Boulters Lock gates to open ...
where the triffid Tobacco plant is growing well this year
Maidenhead road and rail bridges come in quick succession
In May this year I was pleased to see that this row of houses were nearly finished and that the house on the left (grey roof tiles) was also being renovated ... today they are all looking good and all occupied. Roux at Skindles though doesn't look open though yet; it's got scaffolding all around it.
I spent a lovely 20 minutes or so looking at the very grand houses in Bray as we passed ...
and decided that I much prefer the more traditionally (cottage-like) dwellings ... even though they're still very big!
Keeping left for Bray Lock where this boat has been tied for a long time ... surely it was once someones pride possession and I wonder why it hasn't been recovered.
Moored just downstream of Bray Lock I love the Pink Champagne boat ... ideal for a small wedding reception perhaps
Delayed again! Monkey Island was due to open in late 2017, then summer 2018 but this building isn't ready yet
although the main building is looking pristine ... on the outside!
This makes what we pay for diesel look very cheap!
Passing Oakley Court ... we'll soon reach our destination
There we are ... that'll do us
This boat behind us has been here since at least mid April that we know of.
Great views over the river and ...
looking upstream and the weather has brightened up beautifully ... and the deja vu?
After lunch we walked into Windsor (just over 2 miles from our mooring at Dorney) to do some bits of shopping and generally have a look around. George's phone went off an there's a message from Sue ...
they've sneaked up on us ... again! ... that's twice now they've done that ... at the same mooring!
Obviously a bbq and catchup ensued, no photos sorry ... I forgot!
