Finally ...

You my readers, have been very patient!  We are finally in a position to give you our news ... but before that ... a quick catch up!

My last (proper) post took us up to July 11th with a trip to our granddaughter in Buxton (9th) when I mentioned we had a car ...  initially it was an Enterprise Hire Car to drive north but at Buxton was there was something for us to collect ... a car of our own! George is so pleased with his purchase, a 2007 Golf GTI, this is the start of our next adventure.

Still Rockin' is still for sale.
The sale of Still Rockin' is taking far too long, so we're taking things by the scruff of the neck to make events happen.

Fast forward to Monday July 20th when the satellite dish on Still Rockin' decided to give up the ghost and George did a round trip the following day to Kings Lynn to get it fixed and refitted.
6am (I did say that we are early risers in the summer didn't I?) on July 21st and again on the 22nd where George is disappearing into the mist on his way to his car to take the dish for repair.

It was going to be another very warm day.  I had a busy day too ... I was packing boxes on Still Rockin'.

We've rented a small (pensioners!) bungalow in the Midlands ... in Loggerheads to be exact, just a few miles from Market Drayton.

On Friday (25th) we (that is George) drove his car up to Loggerheads to give the bungalow a deep clean helped by George's brother and sister and sister-in-law. The adage 'many hands make light work' worked a treat and four hours later we were on our way home ... for the next week or so Still Rockin' will still be 'our home'.

We drove through some torrential rain on the way home ...
 followed by ...
an amazing rainbow ...
 at about 8pm ... followed by ...
 these amazing cloud structures.
Another early start on Sunday morning too ...

on our weekly trip to Hurley Lock to relinquish our rubbish at the boater services.
This is the last time we'll return to what we'll fondly refer to now as 'our mooring at Medmenham Meadows'.

Back at our meadow mooring ... the day continued with the packing of boxes ... and we're very tired!.

This brings me now to my last post where we moved to Bourne End ... but more of that ... and our plans ... tomorrow morning, as it's now time to get up and start more packing.

Patience please ...

All change it seems, I’ve ridden my bike through Loggerheads quite a few times recently on the way to and from Wales. In fact Percy’s heads were cleaned injectors tested and new valve guides fitted at a small engineering firm on one of those two roundabouts. Nice car BTW a real classic. Looking forward to P2. If you need any help we will be local to you now.

Oh goodness, Carol. I can hardly bear the suspense, but I have to say I’m rather sad I won’t be following your progress up and down the Thames for much longer. I shall miss your posts although of course I understand you’re excited about your new direction in life. Do you think there will be a boat in it in the future?

Thanks Margaret, I will probably update the blog from time to time. Look after yourselves. Love from both of us.

Hi Vallypee, Although we won't be up and down the Thames where we want to live will be near the canals and I'm sure I will be occasionally updating the blog as and when we're helping our boating friends up and down locks. Can't wait in fact! Re a boat in the future - well, never say never. x

Good luck with everything Carol and George and we both hope you get a buyer for your wonderful boat very soon. We have very close friends who live in Baldwins Gate - just a hop, skip and a jump from Loggerheads. We are planning to leave Droitwich in early August to head to the Severn, then up from Stourport along the S & W, the Shroppie to Barbridge, across the Middlewich arm and then south again along the T & M and the S & W, so we won't be far from you. This is all providing we don't have a spike and have to turn tail and head home early! Take care. Jennie and Chris xx

All the very best wishes for the move. It's a nice area of the country round there. We passed through Market Drayton before lockdown. And good luck with the selling of Still Rockin'. You had bad timing with the virus just as you went on the market. Hopefully things will pick up now.
Nice car by the way, nice for a drive to King's Lynn and back! Pip says "Is it a boy racer car"?
If we are passing on the Shroppie or the T&M we'll let you know.

Mick

Oio and Mick, thanks for you best wishes, we were unlucky with the virus hitting everyone when it did, but hopefully being on brokerage in the marina will help to sell Still Rockin' quicker than us sitting on a meadow for months albeit a lovely place to be. We were getting fed-up of not being able to get on with our lives. And the car? George would never admit to being a 'boy racer' but he does love his 'new' car????? !!!! Best regards to you both and we certainly hope to meet up with you in the not too distant future. xx
