We left Buxton yesterday afternoon, but before we left eldest granddaughter Louise found a leak ... water coming from under the washing machine! George pulled the washer out but found that the water was coming from the outlet from the sink. This was soon fixed and it was time to push the washer back under the counter.
There is very little friction on the floor and as George tried to use his back his crocks slipped so Louise was used as a 'stop' to finish the job ... a job well done!
Passing Buxton Pavilion as we leave the spa town. The Pavilion arrived with the boom period of the railway in 1863 and the gardens finished in 1871.
We've not visited yet but certainly will in the summer.
From Buxton we journeyed once again up over the hills ...
looking down to the valley villages
into the Staffordshire Moorlands
We could see for miles and miles!
Eventually through Stone ...
and a few minutes on the M6 and off again ...
Recognise this boating town?
and this church spire ... answers in the comments below please!
To our next Christmas venue ...
our son's family home in Codsall ... another place boaters will know.
Merry Christmas to you both, been in my neighbourhood it would seem. The picture in Buxton is the Devonshire campus of the University, a place I helped convert from the Devonshire hospital .... and visited many times a start of my job. Its a great place and you can visit. The pavilion is across the road and also another great place to visit. The Staffordshire moorlands are special and in my opinion as good as the Derbyshire peaks but much less busy.... enjoy the rest of the family break.
ReplyDeleteHa ha! When I saw the picture before reading the text I thought that was George dead drunk on the floor! 😂😂

Thanks for the info re Buxton Pavilion Nev. It was our first time driving over the moors and peaks this past few days and will definitely to the journey again soon.
ReplyDeleteHope that you are enjoying your Christmas with those that you love and wish you well.
Hi Kath, George is mortified, but looking again at the picture I'm not surprised that's what came to mind!
ReplyDeleteI thought just the same about George LOL Merry Christmas to you sweet couple x
ReplyDeleteWell when I said that to Neil he said “George, dead drunk? Never!!” So must just be my twisted mind. Sorry George 😃😂

George accepts your apologies Kath! Ha ha!
ReplyDeleteI love that road across the Staffordshire Moorlands. Loads of great views to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThere certainly is Adam! We are both from Stoke and have relatives in this area but have never explored before ... something we must remedy!
