London day 6 … a fantastic day

I’m off to Kensington Palace and this is my first visit there …

 Leaving Paddington Basin … the street food market was just about set up and the smells were soooooo inviting.

Into Kensington Palace which has been home to members of the Royal Family since 1689 and part of the Palace is still home to some members including Prince Harry, the Dukes and Duchesses of  Gloucester and Kent and Princess Michael of Kent.  William and Kate also have an apartment there.

 Victoria and Albert and family

Thought to be the room where Queen Victoria was born.

 A display of the The Great Exhibition information in the Red Saloon where Queen Victoria held her first Privy Council (meeting of cabinet ministers/advisors) in June 1837 a few hours after being informed that she was now the monarch.

What a fantastic visit I had to Kensington Palace …

and the day isn’t over yet!

George and I went to St Martin-in-the-Fields to see/listen to a concert performed by members of London Octave together with William Bennett on Flute and Christopher Bevan on Harpsichord. Nothing too highbrow, just beautifully played easy listening,  mainly Mozart, Bach, Vivaldi. Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, Air on a G String, Brandenburg Concerto 5 among others that you’d probably recognise and hum along to if you heard them playing.  

A really good evening was had especially because Molly was being well looked after by Diane and Ray (nb Ferndale).  Thank you both.
