20 past 6 as we take the canopy down ready to rock ’n’ roll ...
06:40 in lock 16, the first of today’s 5 locks ...
George is opening one bottom paddle in each lock to let the water out (and the boat down the lock) and then walking on to the next lock to set that one for me ...
This would make a lovely porthole doily!
Looking back up the Stoke Bruerne Lock flight from lock 18 ... 3 done ... 2 to go ...
Looking through the gap below the top beam and the lock gate I can see George setting lock 19 ...
... where the sun is starting to burn away the mist (07:40) and the cockerel is calling ‘good morning!'
Locks done and the services fully utilised we continue our cruise with George now at the wheel ...
I was puzzled as to how the water gets into this cylinder as I couldn’t see any other pipes!
Still a little bit of mist hanging above the water
There’s very little wake from Still Rockin’ the bubbles from the bow are from the fender touching the water and the wake from the stern doesn’t disturb anything.
22 miles and 20 locks since 16th June 2014!
Since then (26 days) we’ve run the engine for 25.5 hours total. On Rock ’n’ Roll by now we’d have run the engine for 78 hours - all due to solar power - not too shabby at all.
Skewed bridges ...
... wide open spaces ...
... distant villages ...
... and blue skies
... what more could you ask for?
They can’t be more than a day or so old, I watched the one in front lift up on his little legs and shook himself stretching his wings at least half an inch!
I love this sign outside Thrup Wharf/ Kingfisher Marina {edited, thanks Adam}
You either love it or hate it!
(Marmite that is!)
Cosgrove - our destination for today ...
Through the very ornamental Solomon’s Bridge just before 11am and we’re moored now until Monday morning just round the bend.
A few weeks ago we were having trouble with our 3G MiFi dongle so we upgraded to a 4G dongle - today we actually had 4G - I’ve never loaded my photos so quickly before - absolutely amazing!!
...
Unbeknown to me George was taking pictures with his phone of Still Rockin' coming out of the mist into the today’s first lock ...
... but where am I?
6.5 miles and 6 locks today in 4.5 hours - a grand cruise!
